Haitian Farmers Protest Monsanto’s Seed Donation, June 4 2010
Around 10,000 Haitian peasant farmers marched Friday June 4 to protest Monsanto’s donation of 475 tones of hybrid corn and vegetable seeds. See pictures here from Haiti as well as from Solidarity actions in Montreal and Seattle. CBAN organized a solidarity action in Montreal with Union Paysanne (member of CBAN and Via Campesina), Action SOS Haiti, and Haiti One Seed One Land. A delegation of 4 met with the Consul General of Haiti in Montreal for half an hour to discuss the issue. There was also a solidarity action in Seattle.
